For the past couple of years, Polonis has predominantly taken a 'blink and you'll miss it' approach to releasing his music, liberally flinging out instrumentals left, right, and centre via his Bandcamp on a whim and then pulling them from the face of the earth mere days later. That changes now, though. The Scottish producer's set to release the self-titled, seven-track Polonis EP on 16 December, which also boasts immaculate engineering from Herefordshire's poster boy Jakebob. On the standout song "Ultimate Survivor", available to stream below exclusively via our SoundCloud, the Greenock beat-maker pairs ritualistic drums with a haunting, repeated motif and a swelling bassline to create one of the darkest grime beats we've heard all year.
Follow Polonis on Twitter (@polonis_sleep) and Instagram (@polonis.sleep) for more updates on his forthcoming Polonis EP, and head over to his Bandcamp to check out his current selection of instrumentals available to stream and buy. He's also just announced a residency at LVLZ Radio—the much-admired Glasgow station which has returned to the airwaves this week—so keep an eye out for his future shows.
