Gen starts this new year with a highly anticipated BL@CKBOX freestyle. The MC returns to the performance platform roughly 2 years after his first appearance. Thus, this "BL@CKBOX Part 2", has been well worth the wait.
As this sincere MC begins his stream of thought on the infamous "Pound Cake" instrumental, it's clear that Gen has a strong connection with the music platform, as he acknowledges BL@CKBOX well, multiple times throughout this recording. What follows is a meaningful peek into the artist's life, decisions, worries and issues. This realness is painfully honest, open, mature and vulnerable - something great to see from a rapper.
Gen then switches it up and states "enough of that sad shit". This is where the technical bars, savagery, venom and rapid flows are injected. The obviously talented spitter proceeds to gas up everyone in the room with a flurry of boastful, gully bars over a cold beat - 3:59 is insane.
Like much of Gens work recently, this performance is incredible. Some artist's heading over the BL@CKBOX may need to rethink their writtens.
