Bassline, grime and dubstep producer Hamdi has made his latest release, The
Edits EP, available to download for free.
For many, at least one track will be very familiar; his remix of
Mura Masa’s "Lotus Eater" has been making the rounds in sets and mixes for
ages, but has never before been distributed to the masses. The track has the
feel of a classic bootleg, cutting and chopping the original into hard-hitting,
stripped-back grime.
His remix of The xx’s soaring "Intro" keeps hold of the vibe
of the enchanting original, while injecting bouncing drums for a smooth, clean
but undeniably head-bopping beat. "Oxford is Killing Me", Hamdi’s re-working of
Gil Scott-Heron and Jamie xx’s experimental "NY is Killing Me", closes out the free project.
