After enjoying heavy rotation in countless grime sets over the course of 2019, P Jam's "Nando's Riddim" has this week seen a release through Trends' Mean Streets label. Named so because it was created in the popular restaurant chain's Soho recording studio, the track features guest vocals from fellow North Londoner Capo Lee.
Jam-packed with witty and imaginative lines like "I've got two sticks, now that's Bueno" and "Scatter man's brain on the carpet floor / Like my likkle cousin playing with Lego", it's a worthy vocal that does the instantly recognisable instrumental justice. The beat itself is also included on the project, so listeners can focus on the warped, pitch-shifting melodies in their full glory. Closer "Kumasi" is a heavier, more percussive number, combining bongos with modulated, heavily effected basslines.
Fans who buy the EP via P Jam's Bandcamp also receive an exclusive bonus track. Hackney producer Spooky has put a unique spin on "KRK2", the rumbling breaks number which appeared on P Jam's previous Mean Streets EP Very Dark last year.
The Nando's Riddim EP is also available on 12" vinyl. Stream it in full below, and find P Jam on Facebook and Twitter for more updates.
