Together with 1Xtra presenter and Roll Deep member DJ Target, South London rap stars Krept & Konan will be hosting the UK version of The Rap Game. The six-part TV show kicks off this Friday, and will be available to watch on-demand on BBC Three, with a new episode going live every Friday at 10am. It's also set to air immediately after Match of the Day on BBC One on Saturday night.
The American edition of the TV talent show has been running since 2016, fronted by Jermaine Dupri and Queen Latifah, and its British counterpart will see numerous guest mentors including AJ Tracey and Lady Leshurr appearing to offer sage advice to the hopefuls, each of whom are battling it out to win a record deal with Krept & Konan's label, Play Dirty.

To describe the show as a rap equivalent to the X Factor would be inaccurate – seven unsigned MCs have already been selected behind closed doors following auditions in March, and some of these artists will already be familiar to grime fans. Scunthorpe MC and battle rapper F.o.S, who recently clashed Reece West for Lord of the Mics VIII, is among those who made the final cut, as is Ransom FA, the Aberdeen lyricist who has already worked with the likes of Maxsta and Merky ACE.
BBC Three have been showing an increasing interest in UK rappers in recent months, with comedian and afroswing artist Yung Filly hosting dating show Hot Property and a collective of female grime MCs including C Cane, Madders Tiff and Cassie Rytz banding together for reality show Galdem Sugar.
Head to BBC iPlayer from 10am on Friday to catch the first episode of The Rap Game UK.
