Chip finally unleashes 'Snakes & Ladders'

Following on from 'Ten10' back in 2018, it's time for another Chip project. 'Snakes & Ladders' though is not an album as Chip has stated, mearly a mixtape. Twenty-one tracks of mixed genres and vibes from the North Londoner, including a strong list of features too.

As we know Chip hasn't been one to shy away from controversy, having dissed pop star Stormzy for a third time just before releasing this project. But, he does squash qualms too, as we've seen Chip team up with Bugzy Malone for not one, but two new tunes. 'Notorious' which features on Bugzy's forthcoming album, plus another which features on 'Snakes & Ladders'.

The mixtape opens with what we know Chip for; Grime. He may claim to be the most versitile artist in the country, but this is the genre and style we all know and love him for. Whilst it's great getting the likes of Young Adz and Dirtbike LB on this project, it's the features of Dizzee Rascal and Jme that'll spike the ears of Grime fans. 'No Goat', 'Allow It', 'Ignite', 'Eskimo Dance' and 'Killer MC' are those exact tunes. Don't forget the bonus track of 'Flowers' too.

Others tracks Grime fans may take a liking too is '100k' (above) alongside MoStack and 'Done Know' with Headie One. It's not all greezy with Chip though, there's a little bit of Garage thrown in too in the form of 'Grown Flex', an appropriate name for his collab with Bugzy Malone, plus 'No Reason' featuring Aisa.

Of course as well as the British born genres and sounds, Chip has thrown in sounds of his up-bringing, heritage and the Caribbean in general. This is a style we've heard Chip dip his toes into more and more as he's gotten older. Getting the likes of Movado and Stylo G on 'Snakes & Ladders' was a smooth idea from Chip.

Whilst we could sit here, analysing and decyphering 'Snakes & Ladders' all day, it's best you have a listen yourself and make your own assumptions on Chip's new mixtape. The project is avaliable across all digital outlets here, it can be streamed below via Spotify, plus you can pick up on vinyl too on Chip's webite. Don't forget to follow Chip on both Instagram and Twitter also.
