Following the success
of their Grime Voices.remix EP, Antennaterra have dropped a new single. Leaving
the mic to one side, producer katogo embraces a slower, mellower kind of grime
instrumental with “Moving Lips”.
It’s one of those
tracks that draws you in and holds you in the moment, with delicate,
near-breathless wooden flutes, bright ringing strings and an enthralling lukeme
sample from Ugandan musician Geoffrey Oryema. Embracing classic 80s aesthetics with
splashing gated reverb snares and the finishing touch of a vocal snippet from
Heart’s timeless “Alone”, katogo gives “Moving Lips” a deeper emotional resonance.
This complex yet calming 130bpm track is a true reflection of how flexible
grime styles can really be.
